**How does the opening three minutes of 'Heroes' compare to typical TV title sequences?**

How does the opening three minutes of 'Heroes' compare to typical TV title sequences?

I will be looking at how the opening 3 minutes of Heroes is and i will compare it to other TV sequences .

All TV programmes have different intro's and outro's. In this TV programme the title is shown at the begining. Programmes such as My wife and kids does not show any music but only the logo. The logo of the Heroes is very eye catchy and is showing that something magical is happening in the letter 'O', this goes with the title Heroes and with the super powers the characterts have.

This programme is very different to others as it recaps at the start of every episode what happend in the last one. This will allow watchers to catch up with what they have missed. This shows that this programme is easy to catch up on if missed, this is unique.

In the opening of the title their are very dull colors used, this shows that there is seriousness and the mood of characters could be very serious and they could be on a mission rather than happy and having fun. This would probably show the genre of the film

By watching an episode, looking at the Heroes logo and watching the opening or recap, a new viewer could tell what type of programme this is.

The programme is very exciting and makes people think 'what is going to happen next' it shows a bit of suspence.

On the episode (chapter2) on the building it is written ' Dont Look Back', this shows suspence and thriller. The main picture of this is to give the man who wants to jump off the building some confidence to tell him he can do it. 'DONT LOOK BACK' shows that if he does look back he might not do it and he might back off.

The male in this episode is shown to be superior. This is what makes this programme different to others and would make people want to watch it. It is a programme which could attract everyone and keep them watching .

The opening sequence of the programme, 'Heroes' shows the different unique ideas and props to make a programme so different and better than others. The programme is very different and could keep someone too into it and at the edge of their seat.

Poster Analysis( Ms Holiday Coverwrk)

Kidulthood Analysis

Adulthood Analysis

Essay for both Covers..

The film Adulthood is an continuation of Kidulthood. Both posters are similar in many ways, this is because they are both taken outdoors. Both posters show the sky and the atmosphere. In the poster of Kidulthood there is a very dull effect in the sky. The weather seems to be very cloudy and as if there has been lightning or rain.

The moods of the characters in the poster of Kidulthood look very upset and angry. it looks like there is too much seriousness on the youngsters faces, where at this age they should be happy and having fun with each other. The background and facial expressions looks like they are going through bad times. the environment they are in is the street (outdoors), this shows that they are in a uncomfortable place. It looks like they are going through a struggle.

The clothing of the characters is very typical to what the youth in London wear of today. Hoodies, Caps etc. The characters could be strereo typed in the way that they could be part of a gang.

The person in the yellow and black jacket is on a lower level and he is sitting on the floor. The way in which he is sitting looks like he has given up and he doesn't want to try to make things better.

The person on the right side of the poster with the bat shows that he is resorting to violence. He looks like he is angry and is on a mission. The baseball bat doesn't look like he is using it for sporty purposes.

The poster does not show that their is a main character. The 5 stars at the top of the film poster is a self rating which they have given to themselves. this shows that the producers have put their all into their film to make it the best it can be.

The film Adulthood's poster is slightly different to the Kidulthood poster. This image on the poster is also set outdoors. The sky is very orangy, it shows that the sun is rising, this could also connote that it is the return of the Kids but as Adults. The sky shows a much more positive image to the film and shows that they are back to solve all the problems that they has in Kidulthood.

The moods and facial expressions of the characters are also still serious, there is not one smile shown at all on anyones face. this could show that they are still going through a struggle and a problem and do not want to be happy until it is sorted.

As they are still on the streets this shows us that this could be the main settings of the film. the film could be a film which is set outside mainly.

The clothing is very slightly different to the clothing in the Kidulthood poster. The clothing still shows in the Adulthood poster that they are youngsters but may have a differnt attitude and mentallity.

In the poster of Kidulthood there is a boy on the floor with yellow and black on. He is dressed in teenage sportswear. The same person in the poster of Adulthood is wearing smart clothing and is not too close to the crowd, this could mean he has changed and is now an adult. He is standing outside the crowd and looks different.

In the poster of Kidulthood the person (SAM) in the right side of the poster of the bat looks angry and ready to fight, he is looking the same and also angry in the poster of Adulthood. He is standing in the centre of the Poster, this could be that the storyline is about him in this film.

*****Cross Media Case Study*****

A TV text and a film text that have a shared theme and link:::

I have chosen to look at Fresh Prince of Bel Air as my TV programme. I have chosen to look at Hancock as my Film. I think that these two media texts are linked in a very good way as the main character of both texts are the same. The film and the programme have a similar genre even though the main story lines are totally different.

Hancock Trailer :::

Audience and Social Class:::

The Trailer on 'Hancock' is very humorous and it is appealed to people of all ages but mainly the youth. The film is the type of film which is a family film. Younger peoples parents may also be a fan of Will Smith and would like to watch the film because of this. People who like movies with superheroes will also enjoy this movie.

Institution:::

The films institution is ''Columbia Pictures''. This institution have made many films and people who have watched films by Columbia before would also want to watch this. people who are familiar with the types and quality of movies Columbia presents, they will come back to watch another Columbia Production.

Setting and Genre:::

As this film is a film which includes unrealistic events, the stating of the trailer is in the air , Will Smith is out to save the country. The trailer shows that in this movie Will Smith has special super hero powers. This film shoes violence in a humerus way as Will Smith's character is very dry but the way he acts is abnormal so this is what makes it humorous. the sound and music in the trailer sounds like he is on a mission to save the country, his character shows no motivation but is just an everyday thing to him.

Actor introduced+ Genre Confirmed:::

The main character is Will Smith who is Staring in the movie as HANCOCK, this is also the movies name. Most of Will Smith's Roles in films are comedy and he is never the villain or enemy, this shows us what the audience expect of him before watching the film. The genre is comedy.

Use of lighting:::

The films beginning is very dull but in a matter of a few seconds the lighting gets brighter and a child starts talking with music in the background. This makes it more lively. The scenes show Hancock in the sky in between clouds, the lighting is medium and it shows the USA.
